About Me
Gabriela Meriwether is a classically trained flutist who performs works ranging from the Baroque period to musicals to contemporary music. Gabriela currently resides in San Antonio, TX. She obtained her Master’s Degree in Flute performance from Colorado State University and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Flute performance from Northern Arizona University. As an avid performer, Gabriela has performed world premieres in both chamber ensembles and large ensembles. Gabriela can be seen performing with the Fiesta Flutes of San Antonio, as well as various ensembles across the city.
Since moving to San Antonio in the summer of 2023, Gabriela has been rebuilding her flute studio. A much sought after teacher in the Northern Colorado area, Gabriela ran a private flute studio where she taught beginners to advanced students of any age. She also coached sectionals throughout the Poudre and Thompson School districts. Gabriela coached the flute members of the Concert Band and Wind Ensemble at the Denver School of the Arts for the 2013-2014 school year.
Gabriela has traveled to Shenyang, China in 2012 for a Music and Culture Workshop. While at the Shenyang Conservatory of Music, Gabriela was exposed to the traditional, ethnic music and instruments of China. In 2015, Gabriela traveled to Arcidoso, Italy for the InterHarmony Music Festival, where she performed in chamber ensembles and studied with musicians from around the world. The summer of 2018 took Gabriela to Accra, Ghana where she performed with Azaguno, a West African Drum and Dance Ensemble, directed by Dr. Paschal Yao Younge and Dr. Zelma Badu Younge to celebrate the National Theatre's 25th Anniversary.
Gabriela's primary teachers include Michelle Stanley, Cathy Peterson, and Emily Hoppe. She has also participated in masterclasses with Jeff Zook, Marco Granados, and Eva Amsler.
